Can anyone reccomend any hostels in Koh Phi Phi or Koh Lanta?

I'm visiting over christmas and the hostel i wanted to book in Koh Phi Phi is now fully booked! Im looking for a friendly, lively hostel, near the the bars in Phi Phi.

And any hostel thats busy/lively/friendly on Koh Lanta, Ive looked on Hostel World and hostelbookers but cant seem to find any hostels with dorms on Koh Lanta.

Be great if anyone has any recomendations.

Thanks
Rach

The laid back east coast of Phi Phi sounds just the place - I'd be thinking of Relax Resort on its own little gorgeous bay. This joint is flashpacker - a bit cheaper will be Poh Bungalow on even smaller Ao Poh. Several recent posts have dumped on my favourite east coast cheapie Toh Koh Resort so I'll reserve on that until my next visit.
On the south coast within not too long a walk to town, Viking had some real nice new bungalows last time I passed by.
If I was going up a step to aircon, a pool…

I didn't go to the dam so I have no opinion on that.
I found Paraguay an interesting and nice country. Didn't plan to go there, but eventually ended up spending a week there. It's different, very laid back, like from different times.
Whether you'll like the country or not, it'll depend on what you're looking for.
Ciudad del Este is not the best place to get a feel of the country. You'd need to go a bit further. A bus trip to Asuncion takes 6 hrs. I liked Villarica too, and the country side, like a…

Even if you like nightlife and no matter what your age there is a danger you may find the beaches of Krabi and Phi Phi overdeveloped and expensive with insular atmosphere. If going to FMP at Ko Phangan you may find it a very touristy and commercialised affair - some also find the music being played hard to take.
Note that many low budget places don't have websites or advance booking and that includes most of the cheaper guesthouses in Bkok.

Can we get from Ko Pha-Ngan to Ko Lanta in a day? Is it the ferry to the mainland and then to Krabi and on to Lanta? Or can you get direct from the mainland?

Hi,

I am going from the Andaman side of Thailand to Ko Tao and wondering what is the best way. I know there are flights to Ko Samui from Krabi but is that the best way to get there? Or is the ferry- overland bus/minivan - ferry combo a better option? We are going to Phi Phi and Railay so we could leave from whichever is more convenient.

Any help is appreciated! thanks

Check the second link below for Ao Toh Koh on Phi Phi (they have some fantastically rustic huts perched over the rocks some distance from the main resort) and Last Beach Bungalows on Ko Lanta (although the road into here can get pretty tricky in the wet season).
