I don't want to feel like we spent the entire time in a bus or train.

In that case, I think you should cut your list of destinations. You could skip Valencia either taking a flight from Barcelona to Granada or taking the overnight train from Barcelona to Granada.

I wouldn't make Granada as a day trip from Sevilla; i.e.: I would add more time in Granada. With your current itinerary, you won't have enough time to see Madrid. Barcelona and Sevilla could deserve more time, depending on your…

Hi - we are planning our honeymoon vacation for late march 2012 (22nd and beyond) for about 12 days. Can someone suggest
1. What would be good country visit at this time of the year
2. If we could probably cover 2 of these countries (say 7-8 and 3-4 days each)
3. Which cities to cover, what we have thought for each country -
(a) Greece - islands of Mykonos and Santorini and maybe athens?
(b) Italy - Venice, Rome, Sicily, Florence
(c) Spain - Andalucía, Barcelona or Madrid
4. And last - any…

Good Day All,

I’m new guy in the block as they said :) . I intend to travel with my wife for 3 weeks to Spain in March 2012. I’m traveling from UAE (Dubai) and thinking of this itinerary as my plan:

Barcelona -- Madrid (hoping to Toledo) -- Andalucía & South cost of Spain basically Cordoba, Grenada, Malaga and Seville.
I will rent car in the southern part of Spain to hop between the cities there and thinking of taking flights between Barcelona and Madrid. I want to mix between Modernization…

Maybe this is too much of a rush?
That might qualify as the understatement of 2010 :-)

It is pointless trying to combine Marbella/Costa del Sol with Iznájar with such a short amount of time. Choose one or the other. In any case, how much time do you envisage spending on the Costa?

The drive from Ronda to Marbella has to include a long, slow winding drive down through the mountains on one of the most dangerous roads in this part of Andalucia, the A397. Most locals try to avoid driving that road…

Hi scand1,

Opposed to my (apparently) fellow national (as of #2), i'd say -given shortest Sevilla > Lisbon road route- that Beja (the «j» is here pronounced as like «s» in «treasure», which ends-up just as pointed out by tony_b) and its outskirts would aim for some scenery as far as it's surely representative of southern/dry Alentejo (a kind of landscape extension for spanish regions of Extremadura or Andaluzia), mainly flat/countryside land (typical native trees...cork-tree or olive-tree, just…

#5, i've travelled to Morocco (but never to Tangiers) and have visited Ceuta on another occasion as well. I consider that day trip to Ceuta as a complete waste of precious travelling time and money, a touristical mistake i have once made. I imagine Tangiers to be much more interesting compared to Ceuta but i fully agree with all the other Andalucian places metioned, all are very rewarding, much easier to reach and certainly will show a very different Spain after a stay in Marbella.

Morocco is…

YIKES! I just did a quick search on LP and learned that Easter Week Semana Santa is one of the worst times to visit Andalucia area bc of crowds and triple prices in lodging. As such, it seems like everyone is saying avoid it. I heard it was busy time, but didn't realize to what extent. We are on quite a budget unfortunately.

It would be unfortunate if we couldn't spend our 5 days in Andalucia so want to try to work around Semana Santa if possible.

Would more remote areas like Aracena be…

Hi

My girlfriend and I are debating whether or not to visit Cadiz as part of a road trip around Andalucía (we have 12 days in total).

I would like to Cadiz but my concern is that we are attempting too much. If we go, our overall plan (night by night) would be as follows:

  • Tarifa
  • Bolonia
  • Bolonia
  • Vejer
  • Canos de Meca
  • Canos de Meca
  • CADIZ???
  • Ronda
  • Granada city
  • Granada city
  • Granada Province (Sierra Nevada)
  • Granada Province
  • Granada Province
  • Malaga (fly home)

All…

Hi gt4715b,

Haha! yes I know it will extremely hot during that time in Andalucia, this is why I began my trip in the south of Spain first and then heading up to madrid and Barcelona figured temp wise this would be best. I'm actually in Andalucia last week of June and 1st week of July, by the first Wednesday in July I should be heading towards Madrid. I know it's still hot during my visit but figured this helps a bit. Dropping Granada and Cordoba is really not an option since they are both high…

Almono, you plug Malaga because you live there, and you don't offer fair advice to those who come here looking for it. Nobody on earth could reasonably say that it's as nice as Granada, so when biscaystorm said in post 2 that Malaga is "equally nice" to Granada, vitalyivanov was right in post 4 to correct that statement, and to make the point that there's nothing in Malaga compare with the Alhambra, Generalife, Albaicin and Sacromonte. Or do you actually disagree with that comparison?
