Hello everyone

We are planning our next biking trip and we anticipate being away for approx 18 months. We will be starting the in US and while we like the idea of insuring ourselves for the whole 18 months we are very quickly getting to the point where we are considering just insuring ourselves for the US part of the trip.

Hubby has a pre-existing condition, which we are happy NOT to be covered. We're not that bothered about insuring our belongings and we could do without the cancellation…

Hello,

I'm planning on this years biking holiday and am considering either Croatia or Japan. I'm more keen on Croatia because I haven't been to eastern Europe, and would like some advice about the biking routes and accommodation from LP fellows before deciding.

I'm planning to go in October, for around 18 days. I'm in Hong Kong so flights would use approximately 2 days round trip, as there is no direct flight. I will have 14 - 16 days biking.

I'm not too keen on the coastal area as I…

My current tent is about ten pounds; not a huge deal to carry on the bike, but a main drag on my weight limit flying with my bike.

Any recommendations for a lighter weight compact tent that would be available in Canada. Budget is not more than a couple hundred CAN$

Hi!

My name is Jacob. My girlfriend Frida and I are in China at the moment and just finished our job. We're planing to tour parts of China by bike for about 1.5 months. We've previously done 2 months biking in Vietnam.

We are now looking for two bicycles. Nothing fancy and expensive. Something we can have for 1.5 month and after sell or give away. Preferably a second hand bikes. Anyone know where we can find this in Beijing? Or if someone got bikes we can borrow. We fly out of Beijing so we…

Myself and my partner are planning an approx 10 day cycle trip from HCMC to Angkor Wat in November 2015. I know that they are a number of organised tours available for this route but we are interested in "going it alone". Can anyone advise where we could each purchase a bike in Ho Chi Minh for our journey?

We're very much in the beginning planning stages right now so open to suggestions and advice from anyone who has done a similar journey or knows the area.

Thanks!

Servus folks,

my friend Peter just started a couple of weeks ago to cycle the world through Europe/Africa/South America/NorthAmerica/Asia. We started a channel on Youtube ChillAUT where u can follow his tour around the world.
Peter will met some intresting people for interview, he will also help in some social projects (africa is the next one), show some unseen pictures and if you like, comment, share and tell us what u want to know!

I started a small Trailer for the first impressions:

I just returned from a six-week bike trip across France, Belgium, Holland and England. I had used LP and just wanted to say thanks, but also point out some things that I learned along the way. I bought a bike in Paris via Craigslist (a tip here). That transaction was rather smooth, but just Sat. at the airport I learned that Virgin Atlantic (my airline)flies bikes free! This subject comes up all the time here and as VA is partnered with Delta, which charges $150 each way, I did not…

  • Cross-posted in the Indonesian forum!

My partner and I are starting to plan a 3-4 week trip in Indonesia, most likely starting in Jakarta, where we will buy two local 1-speed or 3-speed bikes and use those to ride around the country. We have actually done this many times before in several countries (India, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Tanzania) and it's worked out pretty well, as we usually only ride 40-90km/day and have very little belongings.

I have been reading through many blogs…

Hello fellow cyclists,

I am riding the Karakoram highway in Pakistan in about 2 weeks as a part of my world tour. I was looking for some information about the bus from Tashkurgan to Sost and I'm assuming it is still illegal to ride over the pass. My questions are..
- what is the cost of the ticket and for a bike?
-where to buy the ticket and how far in advance?
-can you be let off at the pass and bike down to Sost?

Thanks a lot
Tara

In mid-August I'll arrive in Paris and have about 25 days to fill with adventure. Unfortunately my wife had to bail, so instead of trekking I'm planning to do a solo cycle tour, either on my road or mountain bike. I would plan to have no more than about 5 kg/11 lbs of gear so I won't be weighed down while riding. Given the ultralight goal I'll need to select a route with reasonable accommodation and food options along the way. There is absolutely zero chance of me doing an organized tour as…
