Hi all

A 3 1/2 month trip cycling through France, flying in to Marseilles and cycling up to Calais, then getting back to Coventry (UK) from there.

What could be more fun?

A few concerns spring to mind that haven't been answered by the myriad of cycle touring books and guide books that we've been getting out of the library:

1. Is it feasible/pathetic to only aim to cycle 30-50 km per day? My husband is the fit one of the 2 of us so will be carrying most of the camping gear. I will ensure I have…

We are landing in Milan in the middle of May, and will start a 2 week cycling tour.
We are planning a circle tour: to go clockwise towards Como lake, mountains, Adriatic Sea, along the coastline, then to Tuscany - Florence, Pisa, and take train back to Milano/Pavia.

I would much appreciate any advice/opinions regarding the following:
1) is this a good idea - to go the circle clockwise? Maybe better is the opposite direction? First, from Milan to Pisa, and so on.
I think in terms of weather (in…

We are doing the leh to the south trip and are looking for info on the Spiti valley road to Kaza and beyond. What is the road, facilities like from Kaza to Rekong Peo. Can we walk our bike across the milling landslide? do we need a permit and can we apply for it in Australia with our visa? Will be doing it in july with full camping gear. Apparantley there is a road directly south of Kaza to Madh on the Pin river but the road beyond is not due for completion till 2010.

Thanks for any details.

Hi everyone!
Im flying into Amsterdam early May to start my cycling tour of Europe. I would like to find a second hand touring bike, preferably with all the fittings or at least easy to put panyards etc on. Does anyone have a bike they would like to sell/ know of someone who does/ or of a place where you can pick up good quality second hand bikes in Amsterdam? It doesn't need to be a super flash one just one that will get me around safely for a few months, maybe a bit longer, around Holland…

What's the best (relialible, fast) form of transportation if I have a (large) bike box? I heard there's no rail link. Do taxis, buses take bike boxes? Also how about cycling back from Ferihegy to the Deli?

Hello everyone,

I am planning on cycling in Kyrgyz/Tajik and am trying to decide where to start. I want to do at least a 4 week training ride to get my fitness level up before heading to the mountains. I am currently living in the Philippines and was thinking of just riding here. I am also considering riding Singapore to Bangkok, or flying to Hanoi and riding to Kunming. I have also considered riding from Kunming to Dali and up through the mountains to Chengdu via Zhongdian, Litang, and Kangding…

How safe is it for a women to travel by bike through Camobdia.
I'm well traveled and have toured all over South East Asia.
My last tour solo was in Myanmar. Really safe country.

Hi, I was wondering if in western europe (france, ireland, scotland, spain, switzerland) bike parts fit north american bikes. I have a cannondale and specifically am wondering if i should bring over my own replacement brake pads etc. or if I will find ones there that work?
Many thanks!
