Hi everyone,

It´s David, from Spain. I have been cycling 1month in Tanzania, now planning to get Malawi.

I am in Malawi, North of it. I will be cycling 2-3 weeks to the south and then cross to Mozambique and SouthAfrica. If anyone want to join for the ride for some days in Malawi would be cool, let me know.
all the best¡¡
David

Hi,
My bicycle Trek MTB was stolen last week. Need to buy a new one.
Marin and Haro bicycles are on sale at pretty good prices. These are relatively unknown brands here. I understand both are US brands.
Are they good/reliable bicycles?

Off for a few months cycling in SE Asia soon, North Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia

I've cycled Malaysia, Thailand, Cambodia, South Vietnam before and not camped once... am I going to be OK leaving the camping kit at home this time? From what I read it should be OK, just want to double check in case. May pack a hammock and tarp just in case, but I fancy not taking the full four panniers this time.

Any thoughts from the collective LP cyclist hive mind?

Hello, now in Kashgar after crossing the Pamirs in a cycling trip that started in Spain. I want to cross China and want to cycle the next three months to enter Myanmar in the north border of Ruili- Mu se that will probably open next month. Which route would you cycle from kashgar to Myanmar?
To cross the tamataklan desert...Would you take the north route to Urumji or the Souther route which is more solitary. and then?
Any ideas are wellcome as I am a little bit lost
Thankyou.

I have about 5-6 weeks in Dec/Jan and would like to either tour Ethiopia (a loop from Addis) or SA, Lesotho and Swaziland (another loop starting from Joburg). I have toured extensively in Africa, but never in Ethiopia nor Lesotho or Swaziland.

Initially I was all set on Ethiopia (mountains, culture, coffee, food, diversity) but almost every report from a cyclist is overwhelmingly negative - citing the stone-throwing kids and incessant hassle. I have toured in a number of challenging countries…

I fly into KLIA and then need to transfer to KLLCCT and/or the nearby Tune Hotel with bike box. I overnight in the hotel and then fly out from KLLCCT in the morning.

Bus is obviously cheapest if they will take the bike, does anyone know? Otherwise it would be a taxi.

I have at least 2 options for overnighting the bike - leave in left luggage at KLLCCT before going to hotel or take to hotel. The left luggage is 50 Ringit (US$16), which is pretty pricey so the hotel seems favourite, but may…

Hey

Im having some real problems trying to find a solution for this quiz that is the Chinses visa so Im asking for any help whatsoever that you guys could offer up. My first idea was to get the Chinese visa in Bishkek after having cycled the Pamir highway and then cycling back through Kyrgystan and into China. I know from some research that it was possible here through an ageng called Miss Lui but recently I have seen a lot of news that she can no longer accept applications as the Chinese…

Hi LP bike folks...

Just wanted to post a note about an upcoming adventure... looking fwd to joining this community for advice, ride buddies and stories.

I have a one-way ticket to Cartagena, Colombia for Oct 20th, a bicycle, and rough plans to be in Lima by mid-January 2014. I'm 29 (F), just finishing my PhD (in biology/public health), and looking forward to some epic roads. Although I definitely appreciate a good brew, my username comes from my last name and not my propensity for BUI…

Hi all,

I'm cycling from Chennai to Mumbai through Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Goa from early Jan to the end of Feb.

Do you guys have any recommendations and general cycling trips? I know about safety issues, I am looking to cycle along quiet(er) roads and never take highways. I am aware of the truck drivers, but how bad it really is. There are so many opposite opinions (from "death wish" to "it's fine"). I obviously don't want to die and be constantly petrified along the trip, but I read a number…

Hi,
I'm planning a trip to SW Bolivia next month and would like to cross into Chile on a dirt road which I'm pretty sure doesn't have any immigration posts at the border.
Does anyone know if it's possible to get an exit stamp in a Bolivian city beforehand (Uyuni, say)?
In Chile I was planning on going to San Pedro de Atacama and getting my entry stamp there.
Any advice would be appreciated.
cheers
Neil
