just in the beginning stages of planning a cycling trip beginning in costa rica (or somewhere nearby) and ending in guatemala. I intend to do this over the course of 3 or so months, and volunteer along the way, oh and do some exploring as well (hiking, and the odd touristy things).

I am looking for suggestions of possible routes (thinking costa rica, nicaragua, el savador and then guatemala), mainly sticking to pavement.
Other suggestions...
-places and organizations to volunteer for
-accommodati…

Hello, my pedal-power friends.

I'm posting this on the off-chance that some of you might know people or companies that would be interested in my new project in Nepal - pedal power for electricity.. Here's what I'm doing (donations appreciated) - http://igg.me/at/ujilayo/x/355825

I'll be working with local entrepreneurs in Nepal this winter to figure out ways I can help them create wealth (and income) in their communities. If you're able to help, keep company, make video, put the word out…

Oh wow! I'm allowed a signature line! But I have nothing interesting to say.

To any women...
Is there any women who went in solo to central asia (Stan) biking. I'm not really afraid about the people but, of course, there is a lot of drinking problem. So, I'm just wandering what was your experience over there. If you have been harass by drunk guy (city, check point....).
Thank you !

We're in Ganzi the Himalaya's trying to come as far as possible before winter really sets in.
Who has up to date road information for this stretch and also big bus information in case winter kicks in.
Untill now we haven't seen any big buses which could take bicycles and communication is a bit difficult over here.

Thanxs for the effort!

We just finished a biketour to Amne Machin. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amne_Machin
It's between the 101 and 205 via Xiadawuchang. It was a wonderful off road experience but the sad news is that the Chinese goverment is planning a paved road here. While we were there autumn 2013 they we're preparing the construction. So annybody planning to cycle here - I bet you better avoid this road for the next season or so.

Hi. We'd like to know if anybody has cycled the S101 ,going south from Xining direction Dawu, and than back to the main road 214 at Huashija. We would prefer this road to the 214 , think there is too much traffic. We cycled already the 213 south of Lanzhou, and some minor roads in Sichuan to Danba, Tagong, Litang, Zhongdian.
Is it possible to go from Litang via Xiangcheng to Batang, and further south to the 214 ,then to Zhongdian?
Any advice will be appreciated. Thanks!!

Hi,
Does anyone know if it's possible to cross this pass (from Chile to Argentina), from an immigration/customs point of view?

The Chilean Difrol website says something about needing to get prior permission in Antofagasta: Difrol website .

But the Argentine official site doesn't mention anything about this: gendarmeria site .

Has anyone crossed this pass recently and know what the rules actually are?

cheers
Neil
