I've been using this site for the past few months to help with the planning of a trip from the UK to Asia.
I don't know how people would manage in the DBI's (days before internet).
Anyhow, if anyone the purpose of this post is to see who's going from Europe to Asia this year, I'm keen to hear from any cyclists that I may possibly bump into.
I myself (Andy) will be leaving with my cycling partner Jarrett on March 24th from near Liverpool, cycling through Europe in a vaguely Danube cycle trail sort of way. We intend to head into Central Asia, probably via Aktau which is the second ferry option from Baku in Azerbaijan. We'll head on to Beyneu-Nukus-Urgench-Bukhara-Samarkand-Tashkent and then into Tajikistan and the Pamir Highway.
If all goes well we intend to take the Irkeshtam Pass over into China and head into Tibet.
All very ambitious but I believe if we aim high and fail we will probably have achieved more than if we just head out with a 'we'll see where we get to attitude'.
So get in touch andywaddington99@yahoo.com Maybe we can share some planning info'.

PQ, I have only received one e-mail since posting this message and I replied to that yesterday. Maybe somehow it got lost. Please reply.

I'm doing something similar, although I'm leaving a little earlier than you (less than two weeks away now).
I'll probably go through Iran and Turkmenistan though, so you might end up catching up with me, esp. if you're quick...
Will send an email shortly

I'll be leaving in August - London to New Delhi, hopefully through Iran and Pakistan. I'll be very interested to hear what the Iranian visa situation is like at the moment, so if someone out there on the road could let me know how they get on, that would be much appreciated.
