Planning to cycle to Grrece, Macedonia and Albania for July and August. Heard the roads in Albania could be bad. Max. fit my bike can take is 26x1.75. Should these be okay, should i use knobbly tyres.
Also any input from anyone who has cycled and free camped in these countries would be appreciated.
Thanks and happy cycling

Not sure what you want to know but wild camping in Greece and Macedonia was pretty easy except it was summer so the ground was as hard as rock and I couldn't find anywhere to put a tent up. Just slept under mozzie net draped over bike or something and that worked as it never rained.

FYI...both Albania and Macedonia have alot of aid workers (i.e. Peace Corps) living in both small and bigger towns and their pretty easy to find by asking a local. So you may be able to get good local information if you can scout out some of these folks.

I went through Albania on a road bike with the thinnest of tires. The roads are generally fine. Minor roads could mean anything there though. I got lost up in the mountains on the worst road I could find, walking my bike not knowing which direction I was heading in and asking directions from a guy on a donkey. But the main roads are generally fine.
