My husband and I have a new addition to our cycling twosome and are wondering about the best way to indoctrinate her into our lifestyle. We want to do some cycle touring with her and I figure a trailer is the way to go but would welcome any tips or advice. Anyone have experience cycling with munchkins? Are trailers comfy for days and days? We obviously won't be going until she can sit unaided but am I out of my mind to contemplate a cycling trip before she is one - and are baby inserts safe? Can infant trailers be taken on planes? Any recommendations for touring trailers? Am I insane?
Any advice appreciated :)

doesn't sound crazy to me, but maybe that's because we are in your same boat and are leaving next week for a 4 month trip through europe with our 4 month old. we ended up modifying a suspended BOB trailer to fit her Orbit Car Seat (not that either company would condone the retrofit). This way, she is well protected and is in a five point harness. The suspension should help with the bumps along with the EPP padding in the car seat. We are cutting our mileage down from past trips and plan to spend a fair amount of time on the side of the road breastfeeding. We have boxed the trailer and are putting it on the plane (and paying $127 for it as it is oversized - anything over 62" L W H).
good luck and hope to see you on the road with your little one!
