Hello,

I am Georgie. I live in Bristol, England. I am going on a cycle ride. I will be taking my time and exploring on a tight budget and I was just wondering if anyone fancies coming along?

I have done a 17 month cycle trip with a friend through USA and Mexico. I also did a 4 month solo trip through Europe and solo LEJOG a few years ago now.

I am well overdue another adventure and am ready to hit the road with no time limit.

Woo-hoo! I can already feel the wind in my hair (an on my back hopefully)!!

Do get in touch if you fancy coming along for a while.

Hi Moskjay,

Well, I have just started liaising with some people who are riding SA to Asia but they are not going until November 2015 so I have been toying with the idea of cycling Alaska, Canada, Continental Divide and on down to Argentina and then meet up with them in SA.

I would like to leave sooner rather than later but do have a house to sell and haven't done any real planning as yet, just setting the brain into motion, lots of ideas atm.

Of course, if I decide to start in Alaska I need to leave pretty soon or I will have too much snow to contend with on the continental divide!

What are you thinking?

Hey George

I'm planning on circumnavigating the globe so to speak, like you I want to cycle the pan-American, though for me that'll be towards the end of my trip and I'm looking to cycle South to North.

Like most Brits on a RTW adventure I'm going to head East form my home in Wales and go in a round about way towards Oz. I'd like to cycle the Pamirs, possibly Mongolia maybe even the Bam Highway... nothing's set in stone regarding those last two but I'm certain I'd like to go through Iran and do the Pamir Highway so I'll be preliminary aiming for that. Then I'll move through Vietnam, Thailand et cetera... I'd like to get to Oz without having to fly from SE Asia but I'll have to see, that's an age away yet and anything could happen before then... ;)

The next leg will be the Pan-American South to North...

I'm looking to leave the UK Feb 2015 and I plan to take 3-4 years... that's my intent. I can't really leave any sooner as I need to save money, plus by leaving in Feb I hope to get the seasons right for the Pamirs.

John

Hi John,

This all sounds very interesting, I have always wanted to go to Mongolia!! I did the Pan-Am a few years ago which is why I thinking of doing the Continental Divide instead. South to North is a gamble as the wind is predominantly in your face that way around!!

I am looking at a four year trip if possible as I want to experience the journey and not just look at the stretch of road a few feet ahead of me. February sounds like a good start date and good you have sussed out the weather for the Pamirs.

Are you interested in riding with someone else or keen to go solo? Or maybe our planning might cross routes and we can do a stretch together?

Georgie

Hi John,

For some reason I missed your message on Thorntree, sorry about that.

So, are you still thinking of heading off in February?

I am going to do this ride - http://theubuntucycle.wordpress.com/2014/05/18/the-ubuntu-cycle-begins/ but am thinking of tagging on a trip beforehand, maybe from this October/November, thinking maybe Mexico to Argentina.

I have also emailed your directly.

Georgie :)

Ah yes...you meant me (John Ogawa). I am still planning a trip and ready to go anytime without any particular date. For the record, i am a cyclist. I hope thats not a hindrance. I get used to be on the road. 4 years on the road. Bike tour. Ask me any question. I dont know what to furbish you with. Do you want me to tag along through all your trip or certain stretch? I am currently at Kota Kinabalu. Warmshower partner as well.
