I'm currently planning my next trip to Thailand and Laos but rather than solely use Street View, I'm using Hyperlapse video as well. This way I'm getting a glimpse of what to expect for some of the riding, providing StreetView is available.

Geez.... might as well save the airfare and just do it from home.

What led me to using it was, I was trying to work out the best way to Mae Sai from Chiang Rai. Highway one proved to be the shortest but the back route which was longer by 20 km, was it worth doing?. Looking at the video the first part wasn't but once you got 25km into the journey it was good.

No, gotta go with #1. If I still biked, it would be a cold day in hell before Google took over my trip.

Just buy a map, dude. Read some trip reports and then go. And leave the GPS, iphone, ipad, tablet, ihomephone, and cell phone at home.
