Interesting BBC article.

That stat sounds a bit odd to me - I'm sure there must be other infectious diseases in China killing more than 2000 people, but it's quite a lot anyway.

I read similar news as in #10 about rabies in China in 2005. As far as I remember most of the dog-related cases were from pet dogs.
