Prelim. Plans for 2015 by bike - E Europe, N Grt. Britain, or NW N. AmericaInterest forums / On Your Bike
If you are just browsing like me, please note that I'd like to find a partner or small group to join up with to go on a 3 to 4 week bicycle tour someplace that I have not seen next year. Prefer seeing nature and common people, eating common food and sleeping near the ground, in small towns vs. "tourist traps". Would love to see more of Russia, since that is the only place in eastern hemishere I've been to so far, but hard to find anybody else for that. Also would prefer to stay in one country, or at least places speaking one language so i'd have time to learn a bit of it . Average day would be 100 km for me, but could occasionally ride lots farther, or less if there was something to stop and see every day. I've toured my own USA a lot but still have not seen NW US, and have seen nothing in Canada, so that is also an option. I'm 53 yr. old guy, and have plenty of friends from previous trips and have hosted many warmshowers guests and been a guest myself. send me a note if you have something in mind similar, or even not so similar, so we can have time to get aquainted sooner than later. I am interested in your plans. I am 36 years old.. coming from Slovenia. So how "big" of Russia trip would be ? | 1
Hi andrejj, My previous trip was on a Russian cruise ship up the Don and Volga from Rostov on Don, to Astrakhan, then up to Moscow, then took the train to St. Petersburg. So I've seen a lot. I am thinking of going west to east, or vice versa, on my return there, but I don't even have any guide books about Russia yet that would give me ideas about what cities to fly into and return from. would want to go as far as Ural Mountains for sure, maybe as far as Novosibirsk, but probably no farther. Might start in Kiev or Minsk as long as getting extra visa for another country was no trouble. Have not checked to see how far across Russia I could even get in 4 weeks averaging 100-120km per day? | 2
