I just returned from a six-week bike trip across France, Belgium, Holland and England. I had used LP and just wanted to say thanks, but also point out some things that I learned along the way. I bought a bike in Paris via Craigslist (a tip here). That transaction was rather smooth, but just Sat. at the airport I learned that Virgin Atlantic (my airline)flies bikes free! This subject comes up all the time here and as VA is partnered with Delta, which charges $150 each way, I did not investigate thoroughly enough and NEVER read here or anywhere else of Virgin Atlantic's generosity. My tech products let me down totally, so don't believe it's as easy as scoring a Sim card at the airport when you arrive over seas. Between Microsoft and my cellphone service and their damn privacy concerns, I was basically off the grid for six weeks! Couldn't keep in touch with my wife, couldn't check Google maps when I was trying to wend my way across France and Belgium on smaller roads after being thrown off the A highways. Holland with its bike lanes was much easier, but those scooters in the same lanes can be a little unsettling! My advice to those of you cycling in foreign lands is spell it out in detail for the entities I mentioned BEFORE you leave. For some reason, they don't relate to those of us who take extended holidays and assume your accounts are being hacked straightaway rather than recognizing your route is actually a circuit (Paris to Brussels to Antwerp to Breda to Rotterdam, etc, and smaller towns and villages in between for example). Hope some of you find these suggestions helpful. Cheers!

I'm not actually sure what you are saying here. Who are you addressing? Who are 'the entities"? Who is "they"? Are you saying that people gave you bad/ incomplete advice.

Certainly you can't assume that those of us who are here know what you need to know. For instance, even if your trip was in my neck of the woods, I don't know everything about all the airlines here. And it's quite possible that amongst all the people who reply to a post, that no one had the knowledge that you wish you had been told before. AFter all, its not our job to be over everything. We are not guidebook writers.

Did someone tell you to pick up a sim card at the airport.

Or is it that you are simply giving tips for others who may be thinking of the same type of trip as you. If so, chances are likely that those people will not see your post at all. If any do see it, it's just a tiny number.

Those who may benefit from your post are the regulars but it doesn't seem like your post is for the regulars except to say thank you.

But maybe i've misunderstood your post.
