The main criteria is the flight must be cheap from northern australia and the time is about mid march to end of may.

Does anyone know which is the most beautiful at this time of year. I am all geared up for coldish weather now and can go camping.

The flight must be as cheap as possible so i thought New Zealand might be the cheapest option but anywhere in Asia is also fine, though there I probably wouldn't camp.

Using Skyscanner you can enter "Everywhere" as your destination - why not do that and just pick the cheapest destination from your departure city that the search returns?

As said, Indonesia, I'm heading to Bali in September and riding up to Thailand, maybe to Chiang Mai. I've cycled Bali before, but want to go to Java, Sumatra, Singapore, Malaysia and Southern Thailand. Depends on how I feel, I might even go into Burma again. I was looking at flight prices with Jetstar yesterday and they were about $600 return if I remember correctly, in 2012 I was there in July and the return flight was $1200 Au in peak time, refer to photo's below, it's a nice place.

We too have the same "problem" but made worse by a poor Australian currency.
What about cost when you're at your destination? Does that matter.? Do you have a weekly budget?

China is a favourite of ours but again the currency has made it a more expensive place. But realistically it'd be much better value than Europe.
We took a tent along there and had to camp an average of 1 day out 6. Mainly because of remote roads and refusal from hotels. The camping was nice though. Contrary to what many people say China does have many quiet places.

I guess anywhere is asian is the most obvious. Has anyone been to any of these places in those months? Or know whether they'd be good weather then? Or have an opinion on those asian places at that time. And also re New Zealand.

Fred as to daily expenses, asia is cheap enough day by day i think. I'd probably go an average of AUD$30 per day.

Maybe somewhere in indonesia is the best option and nearby islands or something. Mabye Sulawesi? and Bali? etc. Thanks for the weather link that was useful.

Indonesia weather varies a lot, depending which islands you are going to.

Bali at that time of year...March is end of the rainy season.April and May are pretty good. Its going to be pretty hot,as it is all year.......
