Mountain biking from a base in summer...

Interest forums / On Your Bike

Hi, i've got about a 5 week block this summer, -my last proper hol- and i want to do a wicked mountain biking trip, ideally using a base with bouldering and mountain biking. I'm struggling for inspiration, as i've got limited cash, and don't want a massive carbon footprint...
It will be in the summer, so somewhere fairly cool/high would be ideal...any ideas, good hut-trails, etc. cheers for any input!

depending on which continent ( or Island) : a/ somewhere in the Rockies, somewhere near Sedona, Somewhere (almost anywhere) in Switzerland, er. Molesworth, or central Otago........ ;-)

For N America try Vancouver and environs. My friend hiked some time in the southern Chilcotin mountains, MEC has a map, and apparently you can ride many trails here. And of course you have the wicked trails of North Vancouver, Squamish, and Whistler. It probably won´t be cheap though.
