Hi,
I know this is a bit specific, but can anyone maybe give an idea of how how far the Marseille train station is from the port?

I've booked a ferry to Corsica for my next bike tour in October, and are now wondering how much time I must give myself to get from the train station with my bike bag to the port. Is there a specific bus maybe?

Thanks
Nokka

Haven't done it myself, but can you use google earth maps or satellite pictures to show you?

Just had a look at a map of Marseille (via web) and note that they have a Gare Maritime (railway station) - if that's where you are going, I suspect it is pretty close to the boats.

My impression is that "Gare Maritime" means "Passenger Boat Terminal" rather than "Railway Station by the port".

The main railway station at Marseille is Gare St-Charles; from the map it looks to be not more than a couple of km from the ferry port.

It's very near : I would say 1 or 2 km maximum from Saint Charles to the corsica ferry harbour. You can cycle or take a bus.

do a search on www.viamichelin.com</a> there is an option by bike.

Sorry for the confusion, what I meant (and sort of said) is that from looking at the map I pulled up, there appears to be a railway station at the gare maritime - the rail line passes through the port area. It is fairly common for ports to have their own railway stations, I know Calais always used to have one. Maybe your train might stop there as well as at the main station of St Charles. Could be worth enquiring?

Thanks for all the replies, feel a bit more relieved now.

Knew one could count on this branch for some good info.
