What is the most affordable way to get from La to Venezuela? Or Mexico City to Venezuela? Do you know if they are bike friendly on that airline? Would it be better to buy a cheap bike in Venezuela, and not bring mine?

Don't know about the best airlines to get there, but I very much doubt it would be an easy task to buy a bike in Venezuela. In a country that is facing a shortage of toilet paper, finding a reliable bike searching from abroad shouldn't be the easiest thing. Good luck!

Read this thread. I was similarly sceptical as #1, but it is apparently possible to find a reasonable second hand bike in Venezuela, even if new bikes are thin on the ground at sensible prices.

But if you are doing any serious touring, you may be wise to bring good quality panniers and rack with you.

We rarely hear of cycle tourists going to Venezuela these days. Tourism in general is very depressed there: it's expensive, extortion crime is widespread, and there are the well-known inconveniences of a Soviet-style economy with 800% inflation. But I expect the scenery and people are as lovely as they always were if you look past all that. Do tell us how you find it.
