in tibet at the moment rode in on the Qinghai Highway. there are checkpoints but they rarely care. the only wya to do it in tibet is go and see what happens. it really really depends on the police and what sort of mood they are in, some care some didnt get laid the night before and are pissed off. theres really no way to know till you get where your going. im headed out next week to base camp and onto kashi - no doubt ill have some troubles but who knows where. in Lhasa is no problem.
