Finally I'm off on a big trip after too many years talking about it and always wondering why none of my friends want to cycle for thousands of miles. I'm starting in Calais on Tuesday and the first leg is to get to Tallinn. If anyone's ambling about the north and Baltic sea coast then please message me and tell me it will all be fine!! And I'll probably need some company at some point too.
Cheers guys.
I love this site.

Mate, you will have an amazing time. I have done the Tallinn to Warsaw section going the other way. Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania are fantastic cycling and pretty flat - just long rolling hills particularly on the Polish border. Nice cycling unless you get a headwind! Lots of trees down the Baltic Sea coastline for protection but very open in other parts. If you are roughing it there are so many good spots to camp. I was going as fast as possible so followed the Via Baltica (E67) which is a newly refurbished trunk road mainly funded by the EU to link mainland Europe to Finland. Even though it is a trunk road there is good space for cyclists because of the way the roads have been marked. Prepare to be stared at a lot especially in small villages and outside of big towns they rarely accept credit cards. The Lithuanian coastline is particularly beautiful. Watch the drivers in Poland - the trucks don't give you much room. Tallinn is a bit of a nightmare to cycle into as it has sprawling suburbs and trams, road trams, heavy trucks all share the same road space as you. The edges of the roads are really bad in the likes of Riga and Tallinn which is a problem as if you cycle wide on the road you get no space from vehicles. Just wear a helmet in cities and use a small handlebar or helmet mirror if possible. Have a great time mate and let me know if I can be of any help. www.pedallingaround.com
