What can anyone tell me about the tranquility and safety of cycling in Latvia, Estonia, Lithuania? Cycle touring, with panniers, hybrid or comfort bike (so some 'reasonable surface' offroad OK)
1 Specifically, are there roads to be found with few cars?
2 Can one weave one's way on smaller roads, using a good map or GPS, avoiding heavy traffic most of the time?
3 Overall, how aware/careful of cyclists are the drivers? I have cycled all over Europe, Middle East, India and Pakistan--and I know for this trip I want reasonably safe and not a lot of traffic.
4 Anything else you can tell me about cycle touring in these countries?
This is a 60th-birthday grand hurrah for me--maybe 6-7 weeks of cycling.
Thanks in advance for your time
