Just wondering if anyone knew the cheapest flexible way to cross the channel.

UK--> Europe in July.

Europe --> UK in September.

Ive looked into ferry's as a foot passenger but am being quoted £190.

Wouldn't mind flying but I don't know where I will be in September- minimal planning before starting :D

Thanking you.

Not to sure about ferries to and from the south coast of the Uk, sorry.

You can travel between Harwich and Hoek van Holland on the daytime sailing for £40 + small surcharge for your cycle.

I went Dover to Calais a couple of months back, just turned up on day. Can't remember what I paid, but it wasn't very much. Certainly not 190. 190GBP seems a little excessive - which crossing are you looking at?

I crossed from Caen to Portsmouth with my bike for E69 a few days ago. I just turned up and bought a ticket so no doubt could have got a better deal booking in advance.

£190 must be a mistake.

190 pounds must be a mistake - you could take a car and 5 pax for less than that!

www.ctc.org.uk has a few deals on ferries for cyclists.

Have you considered the so called budget airlines, like Ryanair or Easyjet. You can get a one way out to anywhere and then book the return ticket on the internet when you know where you will be and when.

Ferries are greener, but you have to get to the coast first, nonetheless, you can cross from Denmark in the north to Spain in the south - a fair range. If you can't search the net, go to a travel agent who should have all the brochures with the routes so you can plan.
