I rode from Halifax to St. John's last summer and around alot of the Cabot Trail. I was staying at camp sites and then wild camping sometimes. I suggest wild camping as much as possible to save that $30 a night fee. Also you must be prepared for the black flies - they are a major factor on your trip. I pictured myself sitting around at night under the stars, but those flies will TEAR YOU UP! and you will be putting your tent up as fast as possible and then ducking inside. I bought a face net and that helped, but I saw some local people with long sleeve nets and hoods and face coverings and that would be the ticket.

You can definitely do the ride if you're a little fit. There are two fairly tough hills, but you'll be up them in a couple of hours and then coasting.

I was very happy to end my trip in Newfoundland. St. John's is a great town. Consider taking some time up there. i just rode to St. John's - didn't get around much other than that.
