Buying Things Online?

Interest forums / On Your Bike

Can anyone recommend any good sites for buying parts and clothes online? I live on the West Coast of the US, and I'm trying to find good prices, even for used things.

Thanks!

A good one in Australia is torpedo7 (here - dont know if the'll ship to USA though. Their specials are very cheap.

Hey Retsbew, how much do they charge for postage (I live in Darwin) & how safe is paying on line with this mob & can u buy panniers etc?

Look up their website - $9 standard for postage (I think) anywhere in Australia. Not much in panniers. Totally reliable so far for me, and they have some great bargains.

We built our touring bikes from 1980's thrift store mountain bikes and a variety of used parts and pieces from eBay.

A good way to ensure a good price on eBay is to use one of the snipe programs (I like www.justsnipe.com because it is free). A snipe program -if you don't already know - allows you to bid at the last second. You enter your maximum price and forget about it. The program does the rest. I like it because it keeps me from getting caught in the frenzy and spending more than I had wanted.

Good luck

Thanx Retsbew, they certainly are cheap.

I'm looking for a new computer & there brands Echowell & Sigma are unknown to me, what's the quality like?

Same for panniers, I'm up for 2 new rear panniers before next Jan & their brands are also unknown.

Do u currently run with their stuff?

Appreciate u putting me onto this mob because the bike shops up here are pretty expensive but I'd rather pay extra for better quality (ie Ortlieb panniers & Cateye computers) if indeed they are better quality.

Cheers,

Stacky.

Also check out www.ebay.com</a> for new and used gear. It's great for getting hard-to-find items as well.
