Hi has anyone bought a MTB in Thailand specifically Phuket. I am looking for for a good hardtail to buy what might it cost I would spend up to $35000 baht.
Cheers

I bought some stuff there about a month ago and they had some pretty decent bikes. Mainly Treks and maybe Gary Fisher's iirc.
I like the Cannasia bike shop near the Bumrungrad Hospital on Sukhumvit Soi 3. (Nana)
Owned by a Thai/British couple. They did some wheel work for me a few days ago with excellent results.
Cannasia
They have shops in Bangkok and Singapore....the website might be Singapore.

I spent a few days in Phuket town and didn't see any decent bike shops - you could probably pick up a cheapy. Best to buy in Bangkok.
My friend had a new rim built on his old hub in Probike, good service, 'free' build but the Mavic rim was expensive.
Cannasia seems to cater foreigners only, or very rich Thai, at least the owner will let you know you're not the type...
Probike is good, friendly but a bit overpriced.
I would recommend the bicycle shop named Saen Paet (meaning Diamond Light, in Thai only), located at Charoen Sanitwong soi 20, it's a bit difficult to locate the shop, but it's the best (price and quality) bicycle shop I have seen so far in Bangkok.

There's a Bicycle shop out near Nonthaburi that is a branch of Pro Bike and because it's not near the center of BKK it's alot cheaper.

There are also shops with bikes to hire springing up around khaosan road samsen with one I know I think soi 2 selling bikes. We will also be hiring bikes out to travellers aswell as the tours we already operate.

There's about a half dozen good bike shops in Bangkok (Google it), but be warned - prices are about 20% higher here than in most other countries and the selection is somewhat limited. As mentioned above, the Cannondale distributor in Bangkok (and in Singapore) have pretty dodgy reputations and should be avoided at all costs - unless you're very, very rich.
