In June/July I will be cycling in Tanzania, maybe Malawi and Zambia. I am unsure of temperatures and what to bring. Sleeping bag? Fleece tights? I hope to climb Mt. Meru (4k+ meters).
Advice appreciated. Also, and route advice.
thanks!

Hi abroadabroad.

Try looking at carzy guy. Under the journals section you will find blogs by cyclists which have lots of information on gear, visas, food and other stuff. There may be blogs by people cycling where you want to go right now!

Hi, Bit late replying here. I live in Tanzania - Mwanza. It's a big country so the climate varies. It should be mostly dry when you come as the rainy season (what there was of it) has finished. If you are along the coast it will merely be hot and very humid (30-35C) Inland it is cooler, but still hot (depends where - here at 1100m above sea level temps are about 25-28C). If you are climbing Mt Meru then a sleeping bag will be needed. You won't need fleece tights, but as they are lightweight you could bring them along for the hike if you expect to be sleeping near the summit. Malawi and Zambia will also be hot. Hard to give you route advice as I don't know where you are flying in and out of. As for a tent, it's not a necessity, but if you are going off main routes and are crap at planning where you will be each night it is worth taking one along if lightweight. Hope that helps
