Has anyone taken their bike on a domestic flight in India recently? We will be arriving at Delhi International Airport and want to take an onward flight to Srinagar with our bikes. Air India looks the best choice as their domestic flights leave from Terminal 3 (same as International) but I can't find anything about thier bike policy on thier website or from contacting the company by phone. IndiGo appears bike friendly but to use them you have to transfer to Terminal 1. Any help appreciated.

I have often taken my bike on Air India domestic flights. No problem. I've never had a problem with my bike on other carriers either. The problems you are more likely to encounter in the terminals in India are things taking longer (so do not cut it fine or you will miss the flight) and security issues (so expect the most thorough security processes of anywhere). Moving from one terminal to the other is also not a problem. Just allow the time.

Hi Noel, Thanks for your reply - that's great! Have you always travelled with your bike boxed?

Your text to link here...Yes when possible. When it is not possible I use whatever I can find and have masde do pretty well. There is a link with examples. I hope it works - I never used a link on this site before.
I believe we should take every precaution to ensure our bikes are ok when we fly with them plus I believe it is best to have a good bike and to take it rather than buying some bike at a destination and then having to put up with its limitations plus then get rid of it.

Thanks Noel - & the link worked. There are some very inventive bike packaging methods, great stuff!
