Hi, I've got a few days to do some cycling in the Tatra mountains of Slovakia and I'd like to base myself in one place, rent a bicycle and do a series of day rides.
A google search for bike rental places in Poprad didn't turn up anything so - does anyone know of a place I can rent one (preferably a road bike) around there? I'm also open to suggestions for places other than Poprad, as long its in or around the Tatras. Thanks!

Poprad isn't a tourist town, it's a working city, not the right place to be looking. You should find bike rental places if you go to the major tourist resorts, places like Stary Smokovec or Strbske Pleso, though I haven't been to the latter. The exact location where I think I saw a cycle hire place in Stary Smokovec, Google Street view doesn't let me get close enough to check (also the shots were taken out of season). I have a feeling I also saw a cycle hire place at Tatranska Polianka, which is where you can cycle up a tarmac road to Velicke Pleso, but again google street view doesn't let me get close enough to the precise location to check my imperfect memory of these things. Though more common is to hire a scooter at the top of a hill to freewheel downwards.
You do realise that there isn't very much of a road system to cycle in the High Tatras. To avoid riding back the way you came, you'll be cycling in the broad agricultural depression that lies between the low and high Tatras. A lot of people cycle along the road and take the train back.
