AUSTRALIA OCT 2013 On a bike from PerthInterest forums / On Your Bike
Hi! | ||
Gumtree is OK Also good is the weekly Quokka paper that comes out on a thursday. There really isn't much on the way but plenty of good free camping. Weather should be OK if not a bit windy. | 1

You don't say what sort of accom you will be using. I cycled as far as Albany and managed to stay in hostels all along the way. Usually 80 kms-ish a day, I think the longest was about 110. After Albany not much accom, so I caught bus back to Perth. Ii did it in Oct and weather OK, but did get wet and chilly sometimes. Also its maggie season so watch your head (magpies like to attack cyclists). That SW coat is a great ride, enjoy. | 3
There's also a few warmshower hosts on the way. | 4
Hi Kathy, some years back (2006) I cycled the so called Munda biddi cycle path from Perth to Albany in December. It was a bit rough in places but altogether a very good thing to do! The landscape is awesome and u will find shelters and spots for ur tent along the way. In October u might get still some rain. Actually I continued to Esperance. From there I headed east the Fisheries rd and took a rough road (Balladonia rd - very remote!) directly to Balladonia road house. Than I continued to Melbourne crossing the Nullabor plain (highly recommended) but got lots of headwind there. A highlight on the way are The Grampians. In three month u could cross Autralia at its southern edge as I did and still do some relaxing cycling in Victoria or whereever in the east. Have fun! Falk | 5
