Older Travellers

59 year old Briitish male looking for a travel partner. I am planning to fly to Bangkok around 10th December and spend a couple of months back-packing around Thailand, Laos and Cambodia. I did a similar trip to Vietnam early this year. It would be nice to have a travelling companion (either sex) for at least some of the time. If anyone is interested please contact me.

Just want to say hello to everyone. I have had the idea to travel by myself..but havnt tried to do before.

looking for any info about hainan. i'm curious about people's experiences on beaches but moreso about experiences travelling through the centre of the island. are there many villages to visit? i have read there are miao and li villages there. would they be nice to visit?

Can I take a bus from Suva to Navala Village or other way around.
Does it go around the coast or like in between?
How long would it take?

My itinerary goes like this:
Nadi
by bus to Suva
by bus to Navala Village
back to Nadi
Mana Island for a day or so

I have like 7-8 days and am trying to fit in all aspects of fiji (capital city, island, travel on the coast.
Any tips would be so much appreciated.

what is the worst advice you ever got?

I just picked up my e-ticket to London (UK, not Ontario) for December to February. Will be spending Christmas with my former husband (and best bud) and our son who has been working over there; he's getting ready to hit the road again. This will be our first Christmas together as a family since 1976, so should be a fun event (keeping fingers crossed; London is not high on my list of places I like to visit, especially in winter). I am planning a trip to S E Asia, and am wondering if it is really worth while to take my spectacle prescription with me. It’s about time I renewed my glasses, so is it truly cheaper to have them made up in Bangkok, Thailand or Bali, Indonesia? I was told by a friend the cheapest place he had ever found was in Nepal?

Sooooooooo I finished slapping the paint around the ensuite and put up all the wood bits etc and the very last job was the towel rails and the pooh roll holder. So I take a bit of a guess at the location the pooh roll holder should be in. Put it all up very neat, sit down on the toilet seat to give it a dry run and bugger me I can just reach it soooooooooo Mrs V2 who is heaps shorter than me cant. This is why I pay people to do this stuff for me normally!
