We plan to travel for the next year. Does anyone know of a mail service in the United States that will open our mail and notify us of anything important. Because we constantly change location, it is impossible for us to provide forwarding addresses. So far, the only services we have found want to forward all of our mail.
BPGuru, aka Sojourner46, Resurgam, etc. Last seen 26 April 2010.
Wonder what's happened to him.
(Should we send a wreath, or just dance about whooping for joy?)
Although I have been travelling for decades I am new to travel forums. I was particularly drawn to this forum because I suspect many who follow it also went through Asia along the hippie trail in the 60ies or 70ies (or as a North American, enjoyed Europe on $5/day), so we have much in common.
Travel has changed incredibly since then, particularly because of the internet. That doesn’t mean it is better now but certainly it is easier. There is still much misinformation out there about travel and…
Alexander the Great was born in Pella, about 40 minutes from Thessaloniki by bus. I got let off outside of town so I had a hike to the museum, but I finally found it. It had lovely mosaic floors from the palace where Alexander was born, and also lots of other 'finds' from the ruined Pella. It was pointed out in the museum that 'Pompeian decor' was not original with the Romans as was thought, but was here in Pella several centuries earlier and so is originally Greek, copied by the Romans. The…
Hi . long time since I posted. Just finished a wonderful trip to Europe. Walked from Cologne, Germany To Santiago, Spain on the Camino with my darling husband . Awesome fun.... then for old times sake hitch hiked back to Germany. Then went cycling on some old clangers around Holland for a few weeks. Seriously even with little bike experience and no cycling map I would highly recommend this.
I'm a 60 yr old female travelling to Cambodia next month. I'll be staying in Phnom Penh, Siem Reap and Sihanoukville and wld like to check out Battambang. Wld like to travel by boat from Siem Reap to Battambang, but don't like the look of boats I've seen on the web. Does anyone know of a decent boat that travels this route? (I'm not restricted by budget.)
I had kind of a dramatic and uncomfortable experience lately over somebody I'd met online. I been writing on and off to somebody on a website for older esl teachers, and he was looking for a job. He sounded like a very experienced teacher. Well, we had an opening here for somebody to work in the language lab, just helping students practice their speaking and listening skills, so I told him about it, and he got hired.
Although I told the school I'd never met him, I did say he sounded good.
Last…
Back in late July/early August I took a trip to an area of Australia that's a bit off the normal tourist route. Here is a trip report and link to photos if you are interested.
Well, I can tell by my empty tiny tube of toothpaste and by my empty contact lens solution bottle that my trip is exactly half over. (The toothpaste and the lens solution need to last 4 1/2 weeks, each)
I had two bus rides from Kalambaka to Cripala to Thessaloniki on Monday. On the way I had a nice conversation with a young Greek man. He had been working in Germany but had quit his job to come home to Greece on the promise of a job here. Just as he got back to Greece the Greek financial…
