Will be in Guatemala September and October starting in Antiqua and then on to Lake Atitlan for Spanish Lessons. Just wondering if anyone is doing the same, more or less, and wish to meet up. I'm 66, male, healthy, safe, sane and wondering if anyone is looking for a fellow traveler to enjoy the sights with. I travel light, backpack and laptop and thats pretty much it. Will be in Guatemala City, for the night 8/31/2011 and then on to Antigua 9/1-7/2011. Let me know if you want to meet up.
We have done heaps of travelling before but now we are of the "over 50" brigade I am having problems finding travel insurance for 12 months. I have found one but the medical insurance and repatriation is only £1 million. Does anybody have any optinion on whether this is enough. Insurance that we have used before usually is £5 million but they have become prohibitively expensive.
Thanks.
I'm off to Madagascar tomorrow for a little over six weeks. I'm visiting an orphanage to meet the child I sponser and a hospital to see what work they do and also to see if I might be able to do anything useful there in the future. I have a lot of my book on Madagascar written and this trip should finish it. Also I hope to be doing some trekking. I've trekked before and the scenery was good but the organisers dreadful so I think I can do better. Wish me well.

If it is summer we are on the road again. We begin by pulling a UHaul trailer east from Vancouver to Regina, helping our kids settle themselves there for two years at the Saskatchewan Institute of Applied Science and Technology.
Along the way to Regina, we had a few interesting diversions. The first was the annual family camping trip to Otter Lake Provincial Park near Tulameen, BC. My brothers and sisters (there are 6 of us) gather there with our spouses and kids each year for 3-4…
I can't bear it!! The transport is crap now, the roads already congested, and that's without any VIP traffic lanes which the genetral public won't be allowed to use, with the Mayor of London and others asking Londoners not to use public transport to get to work etc. during the Olympics next year. And all this after they're milking us for increased taxes in London to pay for this farce.
It seems that something like a third or a quarter of Londoners I've spoken to say they are going to escape the…
Hi,
I'm new here. I never did the interrailing thing when I was younger, and always regretted it.
I'm 53 now and would love to travel around Scandinavia on one trip and Eastern Europe on another trip. Want to persuade my husband to do it too.
Has anyone got any experience of train travel as an older person?
Is it still mainly young ones, or are there many over fifties doing this kind of thing?
Is the interrail scheme considered a good buy. I realise I'll have to build an itinerary and then…
On another branch I recently came across a post asking about the 'Travelers Century Club'. To join you must have visited 100 countries from their list of over 300 'countries' and pay a membership fee (the important part of course).
On Googling this club I found it very interesting to see what they consider qualifies as having visited a country and what they consider a country. If your plane touches down to re-fuel for example that qualifies as having 'visited' the country. Apparently, if…
Hi,
we did a private tour (3h) around Sucre in July 2011 with "Casa de Tursimo" (Calle Bustillos Nº 131).
The staff in the office is very nice and kind, the driver did a very safe job and the car was in good condition - but the english speaking guide was awfully bad, and he skipped 1/2 h of the tour. The charged more than 700 bol - a very high rate for the quality we got.
Don't try to take this agency.
Hi Everybody,
