My husband and myself are thinking of taking an apartment somewhere in the Canary Islands for the month of January . I would be interested in hearing comments from people who have done this previously. Mainly I wonder what you do to pass the time?
Also is it possible to get short term internet access. Thank you in advance to anyone who takes the trouble to reply .

done two six-week stints on Tenerife. I don't get the concept of 'passing the time' - there was lots of great walking to do, as well as relaxing on beaches with a good book. One place was in Torviscas (would love that one again, 270 degree sunset view) and the other right on the edge of Los Cristianos. Both well away from the rowdies, who only tend to be at their worst in high summer.
many places now have wi-fi and there is the odd internet cafe, but I think taking your laptop would be the best bet. One of our flats even had a library of books in English and English TV; there is a big expat community on Tenerife.
Tenerife has a good bus network so you don't need a car, although the odd stint of hiring one wouldn't hurt.
We love our walking so that's what we did, a mix of long flat walks along the seafront - the area lets you do this traffic-free, and trips to Las Canadas as well as many other areas. On the first trip we also went to La Gomera for a week.
hoping to do it again before too long.
I would agree with the above i have been to Tenerife several times, admittedly two weeks was the longest. There is plenty to do and Los Christianos is gorgeous, very cosmopolitan and well away from the rowdy area of Las Americas.
I have a relative with an apartment there and they go several times a year and love it every time.
Hope this helps good luck
