# 19...i don't want to pick on you here but the 180 days applies to beyond certain kilometeres into mexico

...case in point is baja norte...nobody between punta bunda & the states border worry about the 180 day requirement if it even matters..you don't need a visa in this section &...

...there are probably more usa citizens living along this section of coast than in any other place in mexico...including lago chapala & san miguel allende or pv....

..it's also one of the most expensive places in mexico because of gringos primarily

incidentally there are plenty of flights from pv to tijuana everyday....15 minute public bus from the tj airport to the lineup at the border...car or pedestrian lane

incidentally i think the toll road from rosarito to ensenada is the prettiest coastal multilane high speed divided highway in the world

...anybody want to challenge that last statement...i love to get advice on where to go in the world & would love to be proven wrong

...remember it's a multilane high speed & divided highway right on the coast...gorgeous & great taco stands along the way

A better idea would be to maintain your residence where you are, and travel to and stay in a Third World Country for 6 months of the year at one or more different locations.

Canadian 'Snowbirds' have been doing just that for ages MisterSteve. A well known 'third world' destination for winter migration is Yuma, Arizona. I personally shudder at the thought of staying there for 5 months of winter but it's very popular.

i thought you liked the lower deserts wayworn...no reason for me to spend even a weekend in yuma anymore now that the padres moved their spring training home...used to be fun

I do like the desert regions germuno. Yuma however, is my idea of hell. It has absolutely nothing of interest to me and a great deal that I dislike immensely.

I learned a lot from expat bars, in Quepos CR.
Don't buy a house, b4 you lived in your dream destination, for at least a year. The more you learn about how a place reeaallyy works, the less you may like it.
Can you sell that house legally, and with no under the table "la mordida"?

CR has no renter's laws. You can't evict. Squatters or renters, who find that out, and quit paying.

CR has no building codes....

imperial damn just outside of yuma is a fun place.

...but i don't like yuma either even though i played for their intramural football team at nau in the 60s...the rumrunners had a winning season but didn't pass the championship test...sigma chi fraternity beat out the feisty gdi

"how about Southeast Asia?"

the island of Negros in the Philippines might work out for you

In any case it all seems to be academic anyway since there is no sign the OP has ever returned to look at any of this. A first post and last perhaps. I think some people come on here thinking it is a chat room. No answer in 2 minutes and they're gone. LOL
