We're trying to do our last minute pack, as we're leaving tomorrow for Antarctica. It's pretty hard to pack for cold weather when it's about 40 degrees C! Sydney is at the start of a week of heatwave conditions, so probably a good time to leave.
This will be our 5th trip to South America, and we've already spent a total of six months travelling around. I think this one-month trip will probably cost as much as the whole previous six months, which is probably why we've left it till last.
We're getting the Marina Svetaeva from Ushuaia, and will spend 18 days on board, visiting the Falklands, South Georgia and Antarctica. There are only a maximum of 88 passengers, and we expect to get off and explore in zodiacs two or three times each day that we're not moving from one place to another.
We always keep a detailed diary of our trips - even if you are not interested in all the details, the photos are usually worth having a look at. We may not be able to upload as frequently as we normally do, but if you're interested, this is the webpage info -

I did the same trip last year. It was truly great. I'm from hervey bay in queensland. Loved every minute of it, even crossing in a gale. You are in for a treat. have you seen the video posted above about cuddling with a seal. That would have been the icing on the cake but even without it it was the most wonderful trip. I am off to patagonia tomorow from hervey bay via auckland to santiago.

Wishing you a wonderful journey. We are going to Antarctica in December on the Polar Star. "Your" ship picked up many of the passengers from "our" ship yesterday, and I'm sure you will hear all about that on your trip. I'm looking forward to your trip report.

Look forward to following your journey. Didn't manage it for my 50th, now aiming to do this as a retirement trip so will be reading with great interest.
