Walking/exploring companion sought, Capadoccia or elsewhere Sep/October

Interest forums / Older Travellers

If I was not in my mid fifties I'd go alone, but I'm at the stage now where a shared pot of tea (Turkish or otherwise) or a meal with wine, might go down better than a solitary one. At least on some days. Sharing some exploring of historical sites/landscapes new to both, might be enjoyable too.

I'm open to ideas about itinerary, just need to stick to autumn for dates. Appx one week.

Probably I'd feel most comfortable with an (even) older companion with a brain in good working order. Needs to be reasonably fit for walking, though I'm looking more to move about for interest rather than to clock up kilometres.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Don't worry about travelling on your own. Age has nothing to do with it.
It's always easy to meet up with people in places like Goreme, which cater for independent travellers/backpackers. I've never been lonely in Turkey and, if the worst came to the worst, your waiter would make sure you weren't drinking solo.

(To put it another way - if you were+ lonely you'd have to be the T.C. from hell - and who wants to travel with one of +those? See our thread lower down the page)

Thanks for replying. I've travelled a lot solo. This time I aim to try to find a fellow formerly solo traveller who would not mind experimenting with some shared exploring, discussing possibilities ahead as time is limited.
I definitely dont want to hook up with a lonely heart type either! And not sure being matched by a waiter would be my cuppa..
I could share petrol costs if there was a car involved. I speak reasonable Bulgarian if anyone wanted to move between Istanbul and BG and have useful Turkish contacts in Istanbul, but Cappadocia appeals because of the landscape and history.

2

Who said 'lonely heart'? Or 'matched up by a waiter'?
I was talking simple friendship/ companionable travellers for a day or two, or an outing, or a meal. Of the type I'm quite used to meeting.

(Now I'm thinking you're maybe just a perv ...)

'your waiter would make sure you weren't drinking solo'

''if you were lonely you'd have to be the T.C. from hell - and who wants to travel with one of those?'

Must have misread what you said there.. I hope silly name-calling isn't a habit here. Disappointing if it is.

Spring - we don't know you. We don't have a clue if you're male or female even. We don't know what sex of traveller you're looking for. etc. etc. etc.
And we do get the occasional 'sex tourist' on this branch. And we try to weed them out as much as possible.
Your immediate response, assuming I meant a waiter would match you up with someone, seems to indicate you're inclining in that direction. If not, then I apologise. But you don't give us much to go on, do you?
Why do you think no-one else has bothered to answer you - at least so far?

If you're the kind of person others want to travel with, you'll meet them. If not, then why inflict yourself on others?

Yep, one can never be too careful about these newer androgynous posters.
You never know when one will turn out to be another rabid hormone crazed
dingo looking to take advantage of some post menopausal septuagenarian's
shriveling sacksuality.

6

Ok Spring - your prayers are answered after all. Bac's going to travel with you. Have fun. :>))

7

Thanks for the injection of humour, Bac! Gave me a laugh before trying other forums..

8

Whatever your decision – your stating if female or male and what country you are living in, would definitely be a great help for everyone, yourself included. Cappadocia is certainly fabulous for its landscape and history – enjoy.

9

Thanks for the injection of humour, Bac!

Hmmm, injection? That could be a double entendre.

An androgynous enigma wrapped in ambiguity dropping double entendres.

EEEEEEK!

10

I think you two are well-matched. You should get along famously in Cappadokia. Just don't frighten the natives. :>))

Well, as Madonna once confided to me during a rare and
thoughtful quiet interlude when we were alone together:

"There's a very fine line between being the Queen of Pop
and the Queen of Poop."

12

And which are you, Bac?

(And, for that matter, which is she?)

13

Incidentally, a few years back Madonna offered a friend of mine quite a lot of money if he would dance around her and then lie on top of her. He politely said he couldn't do that date. I know what I'd have said - but he's a very nice guy...

14

And which are you, Bac?

What! I'm not allowed my other two choices?

15

She gave you a choice? Or two, even?

16

Seems like 'Spring' is a fella. See [http://www.lonelyplanet.com/thorntree/thread.jspa?threadID=2331384]

Still interested, Bac?
