Brax, thanks for the warm welcome. Actually, she looks caucasian but I guess, perhaps bored with her job.

Couldn't be much fun screening pesky visitors and stamping passports day in and day out. Possibly she loves travelling and wish she was sitting under the palm trees in Barbados, Phuket, the Maldives or somewhere warm and sipping cocktails. lol

This morning seems promising but it started raining a bit whilst we were about to leave Windsor Castle but somehow, it doesn't matter when you are out and about. Hey! it was good walking back from the bakery with my almond croissant and brioche past Richmond station and seeing all the people scrambling to catch the train to work. It certainly made my day to know that now I am retired, I didn't have to face this (unless I wanted to) torture. heh heh heh

I was tempted to say "hey everybody...I am retired and here on holiday" but decided for the sake of self preservation to button up. :)

"M&Ms are like smarties"

Thank you I stand corrected.

Welcome to the UK and London and I am sorry you were treated so badly at immigration.

They cancelled the changing of the guards ceremony because of the weather.
Good lord - what wimps our guardsmen are!

M&Ms are like smarties
You know, I'd always had that impression, but when you said you had them for breakfast I thought I must be wrong.

Yes, look forward to meeting you and Julie on Sunday. How about Brax joining us, too? Can you make it to London, Braxie old thing? We could have a push-up - or whatever we're allowed to call it tin these days of Moderation. :>))

LOL, been through the same sort of grilling, but by US customs and immigration, not UK. Frustrating, isn't it? A friend of mine was going home to the S. Pacific via the US and was leaped on by Homeland Security and assorted cronies. Detailed interrogation, one question of which was "how long have your ancestors lived in Solomon Islands?" Say what? He wanted to answer "About 30,000 years, how long have yours been in the US?" But wisely, he didn't.

Go_2, in case Brax hasn't seen my suggestion of staying with the idea of taking the grandkids to Fiji, please tell him for me, if he joins y'all, that is. It might be expensive compared to what it was a few years ago, but it certainly is less expensive than Scotland.

I am becoming a wimp too, fell asleep at 8pm and was about to ring you until daughter reminded me that it is almost 10pm. Where did the time go especially when you are having fun??

Brax, would love to meet you if you can make it.

The US immigrations give every visitors a hard time, come to think of it and that was before September 11 but someone mentioned that the Canadian immigration officers are worse so I wonder if they are trying to outdo their neighbour, the US.

Wonder if I will get the same grilling when I return to London with hubby in tow this August?

Hi,

Lee at Post No.15, - "Brax, would love to meet you if you can make it." Would love that, how long you in the uk for and where will you be going. I am not in London I am in the Midlands and have hurt my ankle, fell UP a mountain. So long travel at the moment is out of the question due to achilles tendon problems. If it makes a quick recovery can travel later hopefully. Take care

Brax,

Why didn't you say you were in the Midlands? Jean, my other travel companion stops over in Derbyshire , whenever she made her yearly pilgrimage to the UK. I did have the chance to visit Derbyshire but opt out as I felt it is important to spend time with daughter and there she was thinking I will be bored. heh heh heh

Pardon my ignorance of the geography of this country but is Derbyshire anywhere close to Midlands? Just too lazy to google at the moment. lol

Heading to Bristol on 5 June, follow by Cornwall and Stratford upon Avon. Back to Richmond on 5th Jun for a quick stopover and then heading off to Milan/Lake Como on 19 June. Not sure where we will end up after a short stay at Lake Como but promised to be back in Richmond on 5 July. Flying out on 14 July for Sydney. :)
