I think wicked vans, love them or hate them, have started in Thailand might be worth a search

Thanks Guys for all of your advice, we have decided to rent....here's to happy travelling
Redwhite, I suspect that Wicked have ceased operations in Thailand, and feel sure that this will be a good thing for the Kingdom.
OP. I agree with all of the above. Keep your house.
But does it have to be a six month trip? With the low airfares offered by, for example, Air Asia you may be better off making several 3 or 4 week forays into Asia, returning every time to the comfort of your home to plan your next sortie.
My hubby and I are in our 50's and want to travel while we are able to..
No hurry. I'm approaching 70 and still enjoying Asia. The backblocks of NE Laos up around Phongsali next, and then down the Nam Ou ,by boat as far as possible, and on to Luang Prabang. Mind you, the Memsahib doesn't always accompany me these days.
The only way to travel in Asia is bus, rail, air, sometimes boat. I really would not enjoy driving in most Asian countries.
