One more sleep to go before departing for London. :)

Really excited but at the same time feeling a bit scared. Today's news doesn't make it better with the headline "Terror in London". Hope those low life x2 gets their just deserts. Pity they were not shot dead instead of just being wounded which meant more GBP spend on healing their injuries, to be follow by prosecution and then imprisonment. Better to deport them to where ever they came from. Just deserts.

Anyway, where was I??? Oh yes, almost packed but may have to go through the luggage again as it is getting full and more stuff to be added. lol

Daughter has ordered the Zurich hand luggage for me. Thanks go_2 for the recommendation. Daughter asked me if I wanted two, and I said "only one will do me unless she wants the other one". Tricky business when they give you a discount if you take two but this time sanity prevails. Not going to buy two just because of the 5GBP discount. lol

Only sad thing is the AUD is going down. damn!

Still, looking forward to the big travel. :)

Terror in London? I must have missed it - which is strange, as I live here.

We do have our share of shootings, but they're usually between gangs of ex-Somali youth.

And we stay clear of those areas.
Which isn't to say London is the safest place in the world. I've felt very much safer in Sudan and Iran, for example - places people say I'm so 'brave' to go to - haha. But in general it's safe in the daytime and in many if not most areas at night as well.

Of course, you take certain basic precautions - like, don';t go running in parks in the early morning (nutters have murdered a few students over the past years) and steer clear of people drinking near football stadiums (a few here, too, in the past couple of years),
But you have your daughter living here to advise you. Don't panic. I've also been living here for 44+ years and haven't been attacked yet - though I've had my pocket dipped three times.

See you very soon. :>))

Oh - I've seen it now. An isolated incident. Very bad, but not typical.

As I said (in a post that's awaiting 'moderation' so will - eventually - appear above this one) -Don't panic!

2

Not panicking. Well! I am a bit but not about the incident in London. Just that I can't find my bl....dy charger for an old mobile phone that I was going to bring to the UK. And, can you believe it, I also misplace my tooth paste, one minute it was there and the next it is gone. :(

Daughter just said that it is 11 degrees and to bring lots of warm things to wear! I told her "no can do" as I only allow myself 15 kilos. I just have to hit the op shop when I get there.

See you soon. :)

Haha - my wife and I were talking just last night about how several times early in a trip we've gotten a wake-up call (e.g., lost key) to get our act together, get focused. So there it is - a wake-up call via toothpaste. It's a good thing.

Happy trails

Can you believe it! Found the bleeting toothpaste....when I went to repack my bag. Yes, I am now in Kuala Lumpur. Survived a night at Changi. Still enjoyed it, it is like being in an amusement park or rather being locked up in a shopping centre....shops, shops and more shops.

Then there is the massage chairs, gym, I-connect, the monorail going from one terminal to the other and heaps more to keep the tragic travellers who were/are in transits, amused and to spend, spend, spend.:)

I am having a ball. Yes, there were moments of feeling lonely but on the whole, I am glad to be travelling solo. Oh, the joy of being on the road again. Joy.

Glad you are enjoying yourself so far. Changi irport is something else. I had plenty of time, but didn't make the most of it. I arrived fro Brisbane just as the Iceland volcano was stopping flights, so pretty much stayed put.
I felt sorry for elderly travellers forced to sleep on the floor. I was lucky - my plane actually went on time.

I love being in Changi! Remembered the old tricks of staying put in the transit area and amusing myself until 4am the following morning then went to collect luggage from lost property before going to terminal 1 for flight to KL. lol

KLIA is less interesting and so couldn't to get out off there!

Next time, I will arrange for a longer stopover in Singapore and take advantage of the free day tour! I just love to take advantage of freebies. I must possess a 'pedestrian' soul. Lol
