Suva to Navala Village need help

Hello guys,

Can I take a bus from Suva to Navala Village or other way around.
Does it go around the coast or like in between?
How long would it take?

My itinerary goes like this:
Nadi
by bus to Suva
by bus to Navala Village
back to Nadi
Mana Island for a day or so

I have like 7-8 days and am trying to fit in all aspects of fiji (capital city, island, travel on the coast.
Any tips would be so much appreciated.

The bus goes around the coast, and picks up frequently. I am not familiar with Navala Village, but if it is on the coast the bus will get you close enough. Suva and Nadi themselves are disappointing. Your time is better spent in the smaller villages or on the islands.

Seagal is correct. One bus runs clockwise around the island and another anti. I did not see Navala on my map. Take care to identify exactly where it is. There are villages using the same name and similar. Also when asking people, reconfirm bus departure times and stops and directions. People can some times be too accomodating. Transport by minibus and taxi is also low priced but to really see Fiji and get a taste the bus is best. Have fun.

If you don't have time to make it to a village for a village stay, take a "backroads" bus instead of an "express" bus, from, say, Nadi to Suva or Laotoka, or wherever. The backroads buses take longer, obviously (and for some strange reason cost a little bit more than the express buses), but they pick up and drop off at different villages so you do get to see a lot more of the countryside than if you were just travelling along the highway in a regular express bus.

I just got back from Fiji. I think Navala is near Ba (didn't go there myself, but passed through Ba a few times).
There are two roads, the southern (Queen's Rd) is the quick one with lots of buses and minibuses, and is the fast route between Nadi and Suva. King's Rd is the northern route, not used as much for trans-island trips, and is bumpy, long, and in some places still unpaved. And of course traffic goes in either direction on both!

You do not need to go to Suva, unless of course you have a specific reason -- there's nothing of interest there, really (even the Parliament building is out of use ;) The international flights are all in Nadi, on the other side of the island. Nadi is also not far from Ba, maybe 1.5 hours by taxi.

Do pick up a guide book. The hell with LP, get David Stanley's Fiji guide, it's the best out there.
