Staycation

There are stupid subjects and really stupid subjects. This one fits the bill.

los angeles has only three major roads into or out of. every other year we went somewhere only to get stuck in miles of endless traffic. the wonderful week in the mts or beach feel in your head is ruined by the endless hours of cars and fumes and ugly freeway. so we would say ' next year we are staying home !'

next year we stayed home and did daily trips around town--lots to do in l a, but it didnt seem like a vacation so we said 'next year we are going some place'

we repeat this routine for the next thirty years.

It won't catch on. People may stay home on their annual holidays, but it can't really be called a vacation. Boring.

I actually don't think it's such a bad idea, it all depends on how you plan it, but one would have to be able to mentally switch off from their regular busy activities that they associate with being at home.
