I'm hoping you can help me with location ideas for a trip this May that may very likely the last time my Aunt & Mom will be able to spend time together, given my Aunt's health & how far apart they live.
My Aunt's idea of the perfect vacation is a view of the ocean from our apartment/hotel that is located in the center of a scenic town so she can take very short walks to the beach & good restaurants for leisurely afternoons, reading, smoking, swimming and enjoying the ambiance.
My mom's idea of the perfect vacation is someplace with lots of history, museums, and gardens, good food, and a quiet place to sleep. She's up for longer walks and public transportation to get to the stuff she wants to see.
The trip my Aunt would like to repeat is one that we took in September, a couple of years ago, to Dubrovnik. We stayed in Mlini, a tiny, quiet fishing village where we could take the ferry into Dubrovnik when we wanted, and stay on the not very crowded beach when we wanted. It was perfect & I would book it again, except I am worried it will be too cool for my Mom & sister in May for a beach vacation. I've been looking into Southern Spain (Cadiz or Cabo de Gata) or Southern Turkey (Gumusluk near Bodrum, Patara, near Kalkan, or Kizkalezi).
Any recommendations?
