What's the best route to go these days for seniors on a week of public transport in san franciso? Individual tickets? Day passes? whatever?

thanks for any advice.

For the Muni transportation such as streetcars (F Line), buses, train-like things (J Line) we just pay daily (.75, have correct change) for ride with 2-4 hour transfer. Even though you can ride with an expired transfer, there are occasional Muni police checks of transfers and scofflaws have to pay a fine. SFMTA has details (see link below) For BART, there are several places to buy senior passes. See their website for where.

There is a multi-day, multi-attraction pass from SFMTA (I think) that's probably a good idea for first-time visitors.

Here are my thoughts on budget travel in SF: http://ckjournal.blogspot.com/2012/06/thoughts-on-budget-travel-in-san.html - lots more on transpo, links to maps, etc.

Have a good trip.

thanks bun cha....liked you hyperlink and advice

we like taking public transport just to take public transport....get on and off and transfer at will for whatever...so unlimited day or multi day passes are the way we like to go...
