Hello fellow travellers

Thinking of booking a flight from Paris to Seville in Sept.

Have heard bad reviews about Ryan air and even though it offers the best fare, I think it is best avoided. Am I right?

Any airline which you find reliable? Well, as reliable as most no frills airline can afford to be. lol

Thanks

Hi,

Ok I am extremely biased and I think Ryanair are best avoided for a whole host of reasons. The only reason anyone goes with them is down to price, and that is not always as cheap as first appears. For real cheapies most seem to prefer easyjet, although they are fairly notorious for bumping you off flights, they do fly from Charles de Gaulle but not sure if they have a Seville flight from there. Just preying they do not bump me or my climbing partner off our Madrid flight in September. If I come up with anything I will post again.

Previous reply lost in the forum machine so here's my 2nd attempt :-)

If the price is really cheap and you hold your nose, Ryanair is almost bearable. Be forewarned though that Paris flights leave from Beauvais, which means getting a 90 minute-2 hour bus from Porte Maillot (northwest Paris) and getting to Porte Maillot probably adds at least 30 minutes just getting there (depending of course where in Paris you're starting from).

I take Easyjet regularly from France and have had a generally good experience. Never ever been bumped.

Ryanair is pretty reliable. In terms of being on time (though like most budget airlines in Europe they 'inflate' their flight times to make sure they are hardly ever late).

They are also very reliable in terms of flights going..they rarely cancel anything.Of course they have a huge number of flights so once in a while one is cancelled, but their record is better than most others.

Still....it is true most people use them for price rather than quality or comfort ;-)

The biggest negatives for me are...the airports they use (often far from cities)...the attitude of their staff which is usually not great (poorly paid, poorly trained and overworked of course).....the fact that unless you pay extra you have no assigned seat,so if you are not alone you might have to 'fight' to get places together or a place you want.

You also need to pay for just about everything beyond the base price....don't care about things like food (bring your own) or baggage charges, but there are some annoying extra charges that are unavoidable.

All in all,if the price is fairly similar i use Easyjet. If Ryanair is a LOT cheaper (or the only one available) I use them.......

Having both is far preferable to the way it was before..with the monopoly-route national carriers charging ridiculous prices for poor food and service.

Also, regarding post 1...i guess I use Easyjet about 10-15 times a year or so,and have done so for the last 7-8 years.

Never been bumped once in all that time.......

I booked a Ruinair flight to Seville back in February. In March they changed my flight by 12 hours, necessitating me spending fr an extra night in Seville (all other flights were by then more expensive) AND arriving in the middle of the night instead of in daylight.
Then, two weeks before I was due to fly they made the flight later by half an hour.

Everyone asked me why on earth I'd booked with Ruinair.
I said I felt I needed to find out for myself if they really were that bad or not.
My son (quite fairly) asked ""Would you put your foot into a crocodile's mouth to find out if it bit?"
NEVER AGAIN!!!!!

I've flown with Easyjet many times and they're a quite ok airline. (Thank God I'm flying home with them.)
Air France has tried to destroy my baggage twice, and succeeded the second time, so give them a miss too. Their baggage handlers don't have the best reputation. Also, they bumped me from a flight, so although I got an earlier one with them they may not be as reliable as some.

Hi,

Well doubters I have been bumped by Easyjet and it ain't nice. There is/was a programme on uk TV every week about Easyjet and it is awful. All about check out arguments and people not be allowed to board, lots of them bumped off. Or maybe I imagine that also.

These are the people who get to check in when the gates have already closed?...I've seen that programme.......the abuse that the staff have to put up with from drunk, late and obnoxious passengers etc.

If the reputation of Ryan Air has spread to Australia, it must be bad. So, I think I best stay clear of it. lol

I do like a bargain but not if it means 'bad' service. Over here, I have flown with Virgin, Jetstar, Qantas, Air Asia and Tiger. I must say that of all of the above, Tiger is pretty bad considering that Singapore Air has shares in Tiger.

I have flown with Singapore Air and didn't think that it was as great as what it was made out to be.

I am considering Transavia airline. Any opinion / experience with this airline?
