Anyone ever wonder what happened to those people you met years ago while travelling? you know before the days of email addresses and Facebook. For instance I did the hike to Everest Base Camp in April 1985 and think it would be cool to reunite with "Freddy from Sweden", "Clair from England" or "John from Boston". I think there is a chance after 25 years of them looking back on it too. I wonder if there is a website out there to find old travel companions based on travel dates and country of origin?

The ´snake´ story reminds me of a young Brit, I think her name was Naomi, who at the Plain of Jars in northern Laos and back in 2002, purchased one of those little unexploded bomblets at the local market. It had been de-activated (??) or so she had been told, and she was taking it home as a souvenir, thinking it would make a novel ashtray. I pointed out though that it would probably cause a riot at the X-ray machine. Nice young gal, and I don´t expect that she will read this but, if she should .................

Freddy was the character. He would sleep in at every overnight stop then somewhere along the trail later in the morning you could be sure he would breeze by with a promise to sucure beds at the next stop. He wore very loose sweatpants that made him look like a tail-less elephant.

And where is John with whom I hitch hitched all over Ireland in the rain in November, 1970? He lived in Vancouver at that time. And where is Ian from Australia and Greta from Switzerland. We worked together in Kibbutz Shamaron in Northern Israel until I got sick and ended up 13 days in the hospital?

Actually, it could be interesting to have a special forum for ex-co-travelers who are, after some time, looking for each other. Administrator - what do you think? I also have some good memories about few people I met on my journyes.Nowadays, in the time of Internet, they might be "on line" too ??
