Madrid Spain for 1 quick night I hear the hop bus in not running

WE will be coming in on a crusise from Texas to Barcelona...then up to San Sebastian...to La Perla.... for 10 day then
Balbao, Madrid 1 night before flying back......I hear the hop on bus is not running now. So where and what do you suggest
for our one night ....budget yes. we are thinking a fun dinner a few cocktails in a fun plaza ( since the bus isn't running )
and the crash and head for the airport early the next day.....Should I stay o n the route from the airport Bus?

I need to be able to get back to the airport the next a.m. fairly economically. I'm 66 but active/ my partner is 60.
We aren't Prada people...I've seen it. Is SOL Plaza better ? Getting to the airport is my GOAL for May 28th.

The Metro is the quickest and cheapest method of getting to the airport and as all lines are more or less interconnected, you don't have to restrict where you stay in Madrid. Sorry, I can't help with what to do and where to go, I haven't been to Madrid for years although it you want to see a little of Madrid night life, a visit to the Plaza Mayor might be an idea. Plenty of restaurants and bars in that old area of the city.
