Hi guys & girls. Am looking for somewhere different for my next vacation. Have travelled far & wide - becoming a bit jaded. But I know there are still loads of places still out there, & unique experiences to be had. Just need a few tips......
Am open to all suggestions. Love the outdoors, & sometimes old cities, places that are not expensive, not touristy, relatively safe, & don't even mind a bit of shake, rattle & roll. Volunteering would also be fun......especially with animals. Anyone found any other sites similar to this one, which might have some good feed back on? So what have you got for me guys? Dish it up.
Cheers

Country not specified, nothing in your profile. Far and wide? We're not mind readers you know.
Where have you been...
What do you like (sightseeing, hiking, bungee jumping, etc. etc)...
What's your budget....
etc.
etc.
etc.

Otherwise -
#1. get a big map
#2. buy a set of darts
#3. throw darts
#4. choose, from the places the darts land, the site you haven't been to and that best suits your budget..

Without a wee clue as to where you have been and where you are from its a bit difficult but ill start with Kas or Kalkan in Turkey as being cheapish and fun although they are a bit touristy there are plenty of places to see if you hire a car and get about.

Love the outdoors, old cities etc.

Here are just a couple of suggestions:

  • Turkey: the Lycian Way long distance walk. It can be done independently and just a delight with fantastic scenery, cute little villages and then the option of old cities either within the walk itself or later.

  • Morocco: wonderful ancient cities, atmospheric landscape, villages, oases and great walking in the Atlas mountains etc

-SE Asia Cambodia or Laos

  • South America - Peru, the heart of the ancient Incan empire, Spanish colonial towns, Andean treks

and I could go on and on...

My favourite place is Solomon Islands - different culture, need volunteers, but mostly with education, community development and the environment.

Ask me about the Island Builders of the Pacific.

Sorry guys. Was just looking to hear about places that you've found unique. Probably anywhere out of the anglo saxon world. Away from tourists, & well trodden paths. Where I've been is irrelevant.
Am just an adventurer curious to read what experiences other travellers have found good fun.

Not irrelevent at all.
Why not read through reports on this branch - we tend to put up a lot of them. Then ask if we've been to places you'd like to see....

(And the 'Anglo Saxon world' covers a fair chunk of the globe, still.)

Where have you been so far? Your inquiry is very unprecise.
You could go to rural Ukraina or China, trek Himalaya or the Andes where there are no roads or villages - if you like it without tourists and off the trodden path. Or, take a look at Ladakh and Zanskar, Baltistan (india, Pakistan) where there're most spectacular mountain views, or Chachapoyas area in Peru, Chiquitania in Bolivia for unspoilt nature and indigenous people unaffected by western culture.
