#29 Haven't you learnt yet - Resurgam/OKAI II III/BP/whatever else is ALWAYS right.

No argument from me with what you have said molsons or V20091. You are after all agreeing with me that having a plan is what matters. This thread is pointed at those who ignore the tomorrow part of the equation and suggest that doing so is a good idea.
There isn't a right way or wrong way to do things as you say V20091, but there is a way that doesn't include the future at all and THAT I would argue is the wrong way.
AnnD, nice to see you acknowledge I'm right.

I am not saying you need a plan. Do what ever suits the lifestyle that you have and as always we tread our own paths.

I think it might have been Shakespeare who said, "Once a man, twice a boy." The notion of living for today, renaging responsibility and care for the future is certainly an appealing one. It is a return to childhood in many ways. I often have the fantasy of living on the cheap in SEA in some guest house or another, leading the lush life and completely living for today in a beatnik kind of way. It is a fantasy though and like most fantasies wouldn't translate well into reality.
Inevitably, a young woman has posted and said, "forget about retirement for gods sake, you could drop dead tomorrow!" and "Go for it, original poster. If you want it bad enough, you will get it. Things will fall into place."
So I pointed out the stupidity of these two statements. What if you don't drop dead tomorrow? What if things don't 'fall' into place?
Stupidity is not confined to the young nor is wisdom confined to the older generation but there certainly does seem to be some general truth in both judging by how often this kind of 'live today and ignore tomorrow' stupidity is posted here on the TT.
Same old, same old ...
It makes me wonder why you continue to post here, as we're all so obviously 'stupid' compared to you.
Not one of us knows if even the next breath we take will be our last - or+ if we'll continue living until 150.
Those who keep saying 'one day' will never live their dreams; those who think money is anything other than an exchange commodity, to be exchanged for whatever rocks your boat, will never really enjoy them.
There's an old saying that goes
'without wine woman and song you might not live longer - but it certainly will seem longer'...
So live your life how you will, Resurgam. Pat yourself on the back for it if you like. But don't sneer so patronisingly at other people's life choices - who knows, they may be even better than yours?

So what are you trying to say go_2? Should you live today and ignore tomorrow? Or not? You actually haven't said much of anything in regards to that although it sounds like you tend towards the live today side of things. Rather than responding to the topic, you seem far more intererested in attempting to talk about me.
Where did I ever say anyone should keep saying one day? Where did I say money is anything other than an exchange commodity? You seem to be taking that same old, same old view that this is an either/or issue. Either you live life today or spend all your time thinking about tomorrow.
My view is that you should live life today but not at the expense of ignoring tomorrow. That a balance of both is needed just in case your next breath is not your last. Now do you agree or disagree with that go_2?
Molsons, your thoughts are well said. I hadn't considered the return to childhood aspect that you suggest.
My view is that you should live life today but not at the expense of ignoring tomorrow. That a balance of both is needed just in case your next breath is not your last. Now do you agree or disagree with that go_2?
I'm tempted to say - 'Yes .... and No'. Take out the 'should' and I'll agree with you (probably). :>)
