Has anyone noticed that there now appears to be an automatic link to Skype if you type a full phone number in on a post? I came across one yesterday and when I asked the poster how he had made the link, he thought I was being sarcastic as he hadn't linked anything.
It appears that if you type in a full phone number like 001 416 5551212 it automatically converts it to a link to Skype which if you have a Skype out account you can just click on and call.

Don't call the number I just entered, all it is, is Directory Assistance for Toronto, Canada.
I did nothing to make that link happen, just typed the number. Do you see it as a live link or just a number? I have a Skype account and wonder if it only shows up in a post as a link to Skype if you have a Skype account.
Even so it appears LP and Skype have entered into an agreement of some kind.

I see just a number. What operating system are you using?
Using Mac OS 10.4.10, if I select that number, then jump over to the Safari menu, scroll down to "Services", select Skype, it will, indeed, make the call for me.
I really doubt that this has anything to do with LP and Skype. It's a function of your OS' browser.

Er, have I done something wrong? That's my telephone number (don't all ring at once) and I have a Skype account... I don't understand what you are saying.

Baz, what I see on my screen is your number in bold black letters on a grey background with a small french flag to the left of your number and a green phone symbol to the right of it. If I place my cursor over it I see the message, "call this phone number in France with Skype". If I click on it my Skype screen comes up and a box saying, "you are about to make a Skype out call".
There is a definite link.

I have just reloaded my computer after a system crash. That means I have all the latest versions of drivers. Perhaps that is where the update resides. I'm using Microsoft XP and Internet Explorer. I also have a new TT account and reloaded Skype as well. Somewhere in all this new stuff it has happened.
It is quite handy if someone gives a phone number to a place you wanted to contact but I don't expect to see it being used a lot. Generally speaking, phone numbers are not found here on the TT very often after all.

Got the answer on the computer branch Baz. Have a look at this http://www.skype.com/help/guides/ie_addon/<BR><BR>I think if you have had Skype for a while this add-on may simply have never been added on. If you dump Skype and then re-load it you may find it added.
