None of my friends are skiers & my spouse died earlier this year. We used to go on skiing trips together but I'm thinking of going on a trip on my own next Feb (if I get back alive from my Annapurna Circuit trip in Dec). - otherwise I may forget how to ski.I found some info on TT about UCPA holidays which are single friendly but they cater for people up to the age of 40 & I am 50 this year.
Can anybody recommend a resort that is intermediate friendly & won't make me feel ancient & like a 'billy no mates'? Thanks for any advice.

Yes, it's a shame that UCPA caters only for skiers upto 39 years old. I can't think of anything similar for older age groups.
What you can do is to buy a skiing package tour, that will include ski lessons in a group, or book a trip and ski lessons separately. You're likely to find that way other people you could ski together with.

Have you considered joining a ski club? Try this site: [http://www.snowskiclub.com/]

I had a similar experience when my bf of 8 years and I broke up. We were not only partners but ski buddies as well. I did not want to give up skiing, and none of my friends and family members skied. Nor did I want to go skiing by myself. So, I went on a trip to Aspen, Colorado with my local ski club. I still missed my bf, but I had fun skiing, and it took my mind off my loss.

Hello.. i lov snows and am aware of one secluded place which has nice slopes in feb..there are two nice resorts in a place known as Auli (uttaranchal state in north india) by the name clifftop and another named GMVN. the place is really nice and has lots of nice places around apart from sking..

this would turn out to be cheaper then other countries and also you can be in nature and rejuvinate yourself..

if atall u wish any further information, do let me know on my email zenstar4u @ yahoo dot com

Hi Scouser

I'm a similar age to you (divorced) and have been on solo skiing holidays in the past. I'm currently planning my next trip to Colorado (Telluride??) for Dec '11/Jan '12 . Most of the places I've skied have been great about my age and solo status so don't worry too much about it. I've just signed up to a travel buddy website looking for other skiers to share the trip but if that doesn't work out thats OK.

Hi, saw your post from a year ago and hope you get this message. I'm thinking of setting up a service exactly because of the situation you found yourself in - I've been in the same position myself. This is really cheeky to ask, but could you have a look at my website and tell me if you would consider booking me as your ski companion? thanks in advance - I welcome ANY feedback as am just in initial stages of setting this up and if there's no call for this I will drop it!
